NOTE: if you are an existing customer who has purchased this clip from us in the past, please note that while we are working on having a new batch of our Large Variable produced we have temporarily switched to a different material and overall clip size. They will be slightly smaller in size than our usual Large Variable clip, and while still clear, not quite as crystal clear as our usual clips (due to these being a different material). The hook fastener on this model is 1 inch rather than the usual 1.5 inches. We have tested them on the plastic tables in our warehouse, and they still fit well on the table styles shown below, though they take a little bit more effort to snap them on. Our usual Large Variable clips should be back in stock sometime in Q1 of 2023. Please contact us with any questions.

The Large Variable table skirting clip works best on these types of tables:

  • These table skirting clips are perfect for plastic tables with an edge thickness from 1.25 inches to 2.5 inches thick.

  • Designed for tables such as the popular stacking / nesting style Sam's Club Lifetime Table, though we always suggest measuring your table edge to confirm the thickness.

  • Clip, from left to right, is 1 inch wide when clipped on the table.

  • We recommend using one table skirt clip per foot of table skirting. For example, if you have a 14 foot long table skirt, we recommend using 14 table skirting clips that are spaced approximately 1 foot apart.

Folding tables

Our guide to folding tables will answer many of the questions we have been asked. We’ll cover the wide range of uses, what sizes and shapes tables are made in, how many people you can sit at a table and what the benefits are of folding tables. We also provide tips for how to choose the right folding table for your organisation.

What are folding tables?

A folding table is a table top with legs that can fold underneath the table. Folding the legs underneath the table means that the table takes up less storage in facilities. Tables can be stacked on top of each other and stored at the edge of a room so that the space can be used for other purposes.

For this reason, folding tables are often made of lightweight materials like laminate and aluminium so that they are easy to carry and lift. If the table is light, it can be carried by one person so that less people are needed when an event is being set up.

What can you use folding tables for?

Folding tables are used everywhere. They are often used at trade shows and on exhibition stands. They are used by catering companies for food service. They are used in banqueting halls for functions and parties. Wedding venues use them for wedding receptions.

Folding tables are also used in offices and meeting rooms. Large numbers of tables can be set up in a conference hall for a seminar or corporate events.

What size are most folding tables?

Most folding tables come in standard sizes; 5-foot, 6-foot or 8-foot (150cm, 180cm and 240cm). This is the same whether you order a rectangular trestle table to use end-to-end or a round table for dining and banqueting.

Some trestle tables are shorter or longer and some round tables are smaller or bigger than this. It depends on how many people you need to seat at the table. For example, a 10-foot round table can seat more people than a 6-foot round table. Many conference venues buy longer and narrow tables so they can fit more delegates into a meeting space. We custom make folding tables to your requirements, so we are able to make tables in a wide range of sizes.

How tall is a standard folding table?

Standard folding tables are typically 29 inches or 74cm high. This is the same height as a standard dining table, which is between 29 and 31 inches.

How wide is a standard 6-foot folding table?

A standard 6-foot folding table is 60cm (24 inches) or 75cm (30 inches) wide. We also make a narrow version which is 45cm (18 inches) wide.

How much weight can a folding table carry?

A standard 6-foot folding table can carry a significant amount of weight. The exact weight depends on the configuration of the table, whether it is round or rectangular and what size it is, and how the weight is distributed. Our Alu-Lite 1800 x 750 trestle table can carry up to 200kg, if it is evenly distributed across the table.

How many people does a folding table seat?

If placed end-to-end, a standard 6-foot rectangular folding table will seat 6 people (3 on each side) and an 8-foot table will seat 8 people (4 on each side). You will need approximately 2 foot per person on the sides.

End-to-end tables can sit as many guests as you like. For example, three 6-foot tables will sit 20 people, 9 on each side and two at the end.

Note that sitting guests at the end of the table depends on the style of folding table leg. Many folding tables have legs that are right at each end of the table, so no guests can sit at the ends. These tables are generally designed for catering and food service rather than dining.

As we have mentioned above, round tables can sit more people than rectangular tables. Here are some guidelines for how many people you can seat at round tables:

  • A 5-foot round folding table will seat 6-8 people (60-inch round or 150cm in diameter)
  • A 6-foot round folding table will seat 8-10 people (72-inch round or 180cm in diameter)
  • An 8-foot round folding table will seat 10-12 people (96-inch round or 240cm in diameter)

What are the benefits of folding tables?

Folding tables are easy to wipe clean after an event is over. Foldable tables save on space in storage and transportation to and from an event. They are usually lightweight and easy for staff to carry.

Folding tables can be used for a multitude of catering and hospitality applications. Use them end-to-end to form a wide food service table, as a wedding top table in a marquee or a long trestle table for dining. Round tables can fill a dining room for a celebration or corporate function.

How to choose folding tables

The deciding factors on which folding table you choose depend on what you are going to use the tables for.

If you are going to use the tables for dining and have limited space, you need to choose the table size and shape that will maximise the number of guests with the least space. Generally speaking, round tables can sit more people in the same space than square or rectangular tables.

If you are using the tables for food service, you will want a wipe-clean table top that is hygienic and easy to clean between functions. Choosing a table that is lightweight will reduce the number of people you need to carry tables.

If you need to set up and break down tables across a number of function rooms or hold a lot of events, you will want to choose a quality table that will withstand a lot of use.

Look for a folding table that is easy to assemble and has a self-locking mechanism on the legs, so that the table is stable during use. Tables that are difficult to un-fold will cost time and effort during busy event periods.

Finally, consider the aesthetics of the folding table. If you are likely to use the table without linen, you will want an attractive finish and a colour or wood finish to suit your décor.

Folding tables are hard working pieces of furniture that can be used across your organisation in a multitude of ways. They can be used in function rooms, indoors and outdoors for catering at events, for banqueting and celebrations and for meetings and conferences. It is worth taking the time to choose folding tables that will work for your requirements.
