Why do people say only use microfiber cloth to clean cars? ...

I'm intending on using a bunch of towels to wash my car - one per panel. Not a rinseless wash, but a bucket of car soap.

Which towels are good for this and are least likely to leave scratches/swirls/whatever? Links would be great.

I'm looking at the rag company and they have like ten different types of towels. Not sure which one would be best for my purposes.
