Something went wrong. Wait a moment and try again.
Hi guys! I’m currently working with my boyfriend and my jeweler to create my engagement ring. We’ve chose the setting (solitaire, 6 prong with hidden halo/gallery rail) and diamond, and now I’m trying to finalize metals. First off, I’m trying to decide if I want 14k or 18k gold. I like the warmer more gold tone of 18k but I do worry about everyday wear. For reference, I do work a corporate desk job, so I’m not hard on my hands, but still concerned about the durability. Second is prongs. I’m definitely going two tone since I picked out an E color diamond. However, I’m trying to determine whether or not I should do 14k white gold prongs or platinum prongs. My jeweler recommend white gold, as he said if I do gold and platinum, he would need some kind of metal like lead to join them together and says they normally recommend white gold. However, I know platinum is stronger, and I want to make sure my diamond is as secure as possible.
